TSBPA Update to CPE Requirements in Response to COVID-19
The TSBPA has responded to COVID-19 by granting extensions to the continuing education (CPE) requirements. The extensions will be automatically granted through August 2020 for May, June, and July individual license renewals.
If your 2021 license renewal is due in:
March – your CPE is due by the end of June 2020
April – your CPE is due by the end of July 2020
May, June, or July – your CPE is due by the end of August 2020
August – your CPE is due by the end of August 2020
License renewal payments will proceed without interruption.
Texas CPE Requirements for CPAs
Texas CPAs are required to complete 120 hours of CPE in each 3-year reporting period with a minimum of 20 hours each year. Non-technical courses are limited to a 50% maximum in a three year reporting period. Courses in accounting, auditing, tax, management services, attest, economics, finance, information technology, regulatory ethics, and other technical areas of benefit to licensees satisfy the technical area standard.
License Renewal Date
The license renewal date for Texas CPAs is the last day of birth month annually.
Texas Ethics CPE Requirement
A 4-hour board approved ethics course is required every two years. JN CPE offers an approved Texas Ethics course.
